Girls’ Swimming Loses to Norwalk

Girls Swimming Loses to Norwalk

Though Staples won in the diving and breast stroke events, Norwalk bested the Wreckers on Sept. 21, winning 10 out of the 12 events, for a final score of 101 to 83.

“Considering that Staples was missing some key swimmers, we think we did well, ” said captains Caroline Valerio ’12 and Gabby Wimer ’12.

In order to prepare for these difficult meets, the captains said they have easier swim practices the day before, as well as sprints to increase their times in their races. To improve for their upcoming meets they plan to keep focusing on stroke techniques and to come back and beat Norwalk in the championships.

Norwalk’s coach Rebecca Moran- Rubin was happy with the win and complimented the Staples team. “Staples is one of our biggest rivals in the FCIACs and it usually comes down to the last few races,” said Rubin.

Staples next meet is home against Wilton at 5:00 p.m.

Izzy Calderon and  Leah Nelson contributed reporting for this article.
