Shoebox Project Bake Sale | 2:20 p.m. | The Shoebox Project had a bake sale in the cafeteria after school today so that members could collect enough money to have a gift wrapping get together. Sara Shepard book talk | 12:25 p.m. | The author of the popular “Pretty Little Liars,” “The Lying Game” and “The Perfectionist” book series visited The Westport Library as the last stop on her book tour for “Reputation,” her new story. It follows the story of a wealthy college whose systems are hacked into and all of the email exchanges are published onto an anonymous server. SLOBS basketball tournament | 6:10 p.m. | The Service League of Boys gathered tonight for their annual basketball tournament. This is a three versus three tournament with double elimination. All of the teams are comprised of freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors. Photo by Maya Reiner ’21.

SRC Indoor Practice | 5:40 p.m. | The Saugatuck Rowing Club kicks off the winter season in the boathouse with indoor practice. The girls’ and boys’ teams split practice times into two sessions a day. New App for schedule | 5:03 p.m. | This morning, a new app called Saturn is replacing the old iStaples app. iStaples showed students their list of classes, a schedule that rotates per day and the schedules of all the students in Staples. Homes for the Brave | 11:59 a.m. | Social studies teacher Daniel Heaphy’s period six Global Themes class brought in canned goods today to donate to Homes for the Brave. This foundation helps homeless veterans, and the class wanted to give back in the Thanksgiving spirit. Photo by Rachel Suggs ’21.

Dodge-A-Cop | 6:52 p.m. | Last night, Staples’ Teen Awareness Group along with the Westport Youth Commission, hosted it’s annual Dodge-A-Cop game. Up to 20 teams came to play, each one assisted by a Westport Police Officer. All of the money, which totaled out to $50 per team, with additional money raised from the bake sale, will go to the Chris Lemone College Fund. Holiday Open House at Terrain | 11:00 a.m. | Terrain hosted a holiday open house today featuring their Christmas market. The store set up holiday photos, a wreath making workshop and live music. Town Hall | 7:30 p.m. | Last night, newly elected members of the RTM, Board of Finance, Board of Assessment Appeals, Planning & Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals and the Board of Education were sworn in at the Town Hall. Mamma Mia opening night | 9:45 p.m | The Staples Players put on their first show of Mamma Mia last night in the Staples auditorium. The show will go on until the Nov. 23, with two casts alternating days. Tonight, Sophie Rossman ‘21 played the main role of Sophie Sheridan. Warren G. Harding High School | 12:06 p.m. | Yesterday, Nov. 14, English Teacher Barbara Robbins and her 10th grade English Honors class traveled to Warren G. Harding High School in Bridgeport for a book club. This was the third year they organized this book club, and the English department hopes to continue in years to come. Students were placed in small groups to discuss their thoughts and reactions to the book “The 57 Bus” and the students from Bridgeport will be coming to Staples in December for another meeting. Westport Library | 7:15 p.m. | The Westport Public Library hosted Art Spiegelman, the Pulitzer-prize winning author and illustrator of the book Maus, to speak at its Malloy Lecture in the Arts from 7:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. The Malloy Lecture in the Arts program allows the Westport Library to bring world-renowned artists to Westport and has been in operation since 2002.
