Gluten free foods storm social media

Gluten+free+foods+storm+social+media

Dessert: warm chocolate fudge cakes, flaky pie crusts, and creamy soft-serve. This may be some people’s definition of after-meal confections, but I happen to be the quinoa flour cookie kind of gal, and Gluten Free Week at Staples is my haven.

To celebrate this week laden with buckwheat scones and flourless chocolate cakes, here is a list of the best social media accounts devoted to gluten free goodies becoming more than just “the healthy option.”

Blogs

Gluten Free Mommy
We’ve all heard the saying, “Moms know best,” which holds true for the Gluten Free Mommy blog. While it’s not overtly chic or trendy, Natalie’s recipes are simple with helpful efficiency tips.

Gluten Free Girl
Shauna, the Gluten Free Girl, feels like she could fit right in at Staples. With slightly over edited pictures and trendy ingredients, it’s basically looks like most of the Staples girls’ Instagrams. However, this young chef has a lot more experience and some especially lip-licking breakfast recipes to try out.

Gluten Free Goddess
While this goddess is not from ancient Greece, her recipes are timeless. Everything from the elegant gluten free coconut cake to the vibrant split pea soup exudes clean, classic cooking. She even has a few Greek recipes with a gluten free twist!

Instagram

@naturalnomad
Even though when I scroll through Lauren’s Instagram feed I am self conscious about my food photography because of her painstakingly perfect food placement, she has tons of food knowledge, lives so chicly in London, and has some really clever substitutions. Who knew you could make Red Velvet Ice Cream with frozen bananas?

@udisglutenfree
While it’s not the fanciest or most gourmet instagram around, it’s a great product-themed instagram. The feed always has interesting ways to use Udi’s products and all of the ideas are easy because you can buy the Udi’s products you see on the screen!

About the Contributor
Kaila Finn, Web News Editor
Kaila Finn’s creativity is showcased not only in her writing forInklings but in her love for cooking. Finn loves all things food. She reads cookbooks, watches the Food Network, and even has her own blog about food called “What’s cooking?” on her blog, she posts recipes, quick tips, and reviews of new restaurants. Finn says, “Food is a big part of my life.” Cooking isn’t just a pastime for Finn; she plans to take her love for food a step farther and pursue a career in the food industry. Her dream job is to be the editor in chief of Gourmetmagazine or Bon Appétit magazine. This way she can incorporate her passion for journalism into her cooking career. Not only is she interested in a career in cooking, but she also aspires to be a high school English teacher. Finn was drawn to journalism because of her passion for reading and writing, and her goal of crafting writing that “makes readers think differently.” In her time as a journalist, she has become a master of description, particularly in describing food. Finn says her love for food helps in her writing, and she especially enjoys reviewing restaurants and describing dishes. She has quite the expertise in food and knows where to find good restaurants. Finn says the restaurant scene in Westport is disappointing; therefore her favorite restaurant is The Chelsea in Fairfield. Finn’s love for food and journalism complement each other well. And as for “What’s cooking?” in Kaila’s kitchen, it is clear a bright future in both food and journalism is in the works.
