Ah, March. The third month of the year and the month that many in Staples view as the worst month of the year. Every time it comes around, March cries in the corner of its room as everyone groans and unenthusiastically looks at their calendars. But March is done being the scapegoat of everyone’s woes. The exceedingly great sides of March are always overlooked, but that time is over!
First of all, no one likes winter. You might say you like winter, but you just like snow sports or some other peculiar aspect of the season. Winter is cold, it’s wet and everyone is somewhat disappointed when the groundhog sees its shadow. But March has a solution to this devastating season, Spring! Sure, it may still be cold in March, and occasionally snow will fall in what’s supposed to be the end of Winter, but just the thought of it being Spring will surely warm you up.
Basketball, the legendary game where you throw a ball and try to have it go through a hoop. March also beautifully graces us with one of the greatest basketball events of the year, March Madness. When this sporting event rolls around, everyone is making their brackets and hoping that they will create the perfect one, despite the odds being lower than winning the lottery multiple times, so you know, only a little bit difficult to achieve.
Finally, many people cite the lack of any sort of breaks or no-school days throughout the month of March, but is that really a bad thing? More school days means more studying and more studying means you can finally get into that college you’ve been dreaming of for years. So 10 years down the line, you’ll be thanking March for all the extra studying you got in. So what if we don’t get Saint Patrick’s day off, it’s not like anyone religiously celebrates it anyways.
So next time March rolls around, rid yourself of the fantasy plaguing our school. Embrace March as one of the most optimal and exciting months of the year and stop thinking about all her shortcomings. March has feelings just like everyone of us, so we must treat it with the respect it deserves!
