This is the first time the Wreckers have beaten Trumbull in over 10 years. This moves the Wreckers to 6-0. The Wreckers look to play Wilton at home on Saturday at 2 p.m. on their Senior Night. In this billboard next to the cafeteria, each periodic element is replaced with the initials of an influential Black figure, from authors and inventors to athletes and musicians, in an effort to give recognition to these historical figures for their  accomplishments. The girls’ basketball team had their game opener against Greenwich today. After being down by three at the end of the first quarter, Staples was able to come back at half leading by 11. The sports represented are field hockey, football, girls’ and boys’ lacrosse, baseball and girls’ soccer. All athletes and coaches made speeches at the event. It moved into the old location of Westport Pizza on post road in downtown Westport. The restaurant serves Mediterranean food and they plan to have pizza that’s more unique than the remainder of pizzerias in Westport.       • For those who do not have a readily available selection of books at home, libraries are the best place to start. Not only do they offer books on virtually any subject imaginable -- including Westport’s own downtown public library -- but libraries create the perfect peaceful environment to dig into nonfiction or get lost in a magical storyline. Besides, removing environmental factors that shutter a teenager from reading is the first step in opening the heart to books.

      • The in-person experience of a concert includes the excitement of hearing live voices and being surrounded by people with a similar interest in music. Online concerts, while useful, don’t have the same experience as you have to sit in front of a screen to enjoy. Many students have been able to participate and make time for the online concerts with their easy accessibility.

      • Starting in the 2022-2023 school year, the state of Connecticut is mandating that all public high schools offer a course called African American, Black, Latino, and Puerto Rican Studies. But if there aren’t enough students to sign up for the class, students are not obligated to offer it. However, it is necessary that all students are required to take this class.
