The boys’ basketball game between the Staples Wreckers and Trumbull Eagles scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 10 has been postponed to Wednesday, Feb. 11 due to anticipated icy weather conditions.
Athletic Director V.J. Sarullo sent an email to all Staples students and staff informing them of the postponement. Sarullo also confirmed that the game will now be played Feb. 11 at the same originally scheduled time of 7 p.m. The match will take place in the Staples main gym. Tickets purchased for the original game will remain valid for the new date.
Both teams will enter the game undefeated with 15-0 records.
“We were all super frustrated about it [the postponement] at first. But after a great night of practice, we feel even more confident and prepared than before,” junior captain Dhilan Lowman ’27 said. “I think this extra time was good for us and tomorrow night will be a great game.”
For those unable to attend in person, the game will be available to watch through a free live stream on youtube.
“I was looking forward to the game tonight, but I’m happy that it was re-scheduled to a new date,” Ellie Ferraro’27 said.
This is one of the biggest games of the year, with few tickets still available to purchase in the student section. In last season’s matchup between the two teams, Staples lost to Trumbull 46-45.
