Charlie Goldman ’28 has ventured far from his home in Westport, traveling to places like Shanghai and Beijing’s Forbidden City.
“They were really cool historical landmarks in China,” Goldman said.
Goldman’s curiosity and openness to new experiences also define his academic life at Staples.
Although chemistry initially made him nervous, the class has become an unexpected favorite. What helped was discovering that his teacher shared the same energy, which made the environment more welcoming. Once comfortable, Goldman found the subject engaging and rewarding.
“My teacher is pretty funny,” he said. “He seems pretty nervous too, and I really like that.”
