Krakowiak '07 Drafted by Seattle in MLB Draft

Max Krakowiak ’07, former Staples baseball player, was selected in the 48th round of the Major League Baseball First-Year-Player Draft by the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday.

Krakowiak, after his accolade-filled career at Staples for both baseball and basketball, attended Fordham University where he participated in the school’s baseball team.

Krakowiak was an All-Area selection and a Connecticut American Legion All-Star in 2006. He also attained All-FCIAC Honorable Mention honors for both baseball and basketball.

In his senior season with the Rams, Krakowiak collected five wins and posted a 4.23 ERA. He finished his collegiate career with 43 games started, fourth most in Fordham history, 14 wins, and a 4.89 ERA. He was named to the All-Atlantic 10 second team. He ranks high among all-time greats at Fordham, he’s the 32nd player all time to be drafted out of Fordham.

Krakowiak is the third Staples graduate to be drafted by a Major League team, the other two being Doug Vroman ’99, who attended University of Virginia and University of New Haven before being drafted by the Montreal Expos in the 35th round of the 2003 draft, and Tim Carter ’86, who was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 14th round of the 1990 draft out of Miami University.
