The Staples Senior Prom was held last Saturday, June 5, at the Stamford Hilton from 7 to 11 p.m. After the dance, a post-prom celebration organized by the Staples PTA was held at the Compo Beach Pavilion; this event continued until 1 a.m.

“It was an excellent prom,” Principal John Dodig said. “It went flawlessly.”

Dodig’s sentiments were clear in an email he sent to the parents of the senior class on Sunday morning.

“Thanks to everyone working together (students, parents, teachers and administrators), our seniors were able to have fun without any incidents,” Dodig wrote. “Those from the hotel working the event were amazed at how well behaved, thoughtful and respectful our students were.”

Dodig’s feelings towards the event were shared by Social Studies 6-12 Department Coordinator James D’Amico, who chaperoned at the event.

“I thought it went fantastically,” D’Amico said. “Behavior was great and it looked like everyone was having a great time.”

Though there were initially some concerns that inclement weather conditions would cause the post-prom celebration to be cancelled, no thunderstorms or showers occurred and the event was able to happen as planned.
