Falling in love with Fall drinks

Falling+in+love+with+Fall+drinks

Fall tends to be many people’s favorite season. Staples is abuzz with energy from the start of the year. The first football games are charged and fill the stands with the community decked out in white and blue. Fireplaces are just starting to be lit as the air has a slight chill and the leaves begin to crunch on the ground.

Despite these exciting moments, comforting fall drinks are a definite highlight of the enchanting season.

One fall favorite is Dunkin’ Donuts’ extensive seasonal line. Some of these drinks are Pumpkin Coffee or Pumpkin White Chocolate Lattes as well as piping hot Apple Cider.

Starbucks never fails to keep their customers happy with a variety of spiced and frothy treats. These range from the ever-popular Vanilla Chai Tea Latte to the seasonal Pumpkin Spice Latte and the Chocolate Chai Latte. Lattes are common fall drinks because of their lightness from the foam, but ultimately rich and velvety texture.

Jen Gouchoe ‘16, Ben Goldstein ‘16, and Bailey Rizza ‘17 agreed that Salted Caramel was a fall staple. However, Gouchoe enjoys the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate, Goldstein loves the mocha flavor, and Rizza always gets the latte version.

Who knew that one flavor could come in so many variations?

Another unique beverage is the Caramel Apple Spice from Starbucks. This is steaming apple cider, topped with spiced whipped cream and caramel.

Along with many other Staples students enjoying the treats of fall, Anna Daytz ‘16 said, “”I love it because its perfect for fall and its just amazing. You should try it! Everyone should!”

Finn says her love for food helps in her writing, and she especially enjoys reviewing restaurants and describing dishes. She has quite the expertise in food and knows where to find good restaurants. Finn says the restaurant scene in Westport is disappointing; therefore her favorite restaurant is The Chelsea in Fairfield. Finn’s love for food and journalism complement each other well. And as for “What’s cooking?” in Kaila’s kitchen, it is clear a bright future in both food and journalism is in the works.
