Chase Gorbein

Chase Gorbein, Staff Writer

A third year Inklings veteran, Chase Gornbein ’16 is an avid runner. Originally a player

on the freshman soccer team, he joined the crosscountry team freshman year in order to stay in

shape offseason.

“I became, I guess, pretty good at running,” Gornbein said. Pretty good might be an

understatement for someone who has competed at both indoor nationals and the Nike qualifiers.

“I like pushing myself,” Gornbein said. “I like seeing how far I can go both mentally and

physically.” As a naturally competitive person, seeing his competitors improve their times only

encourages him to run faster as well.

Although Inklings has not changed his future plans, Gornbein admits that, as a staff

writer, he has “learned how to condense my writing to only specify the most important details,”

Gornbein said, “which is something that I have kind of translated into my writing in English.”
