I think the decision was mostly made for legal reasons so they don’t have to be held responsible for the poor decision-making of adolescents.

Governour’s Ball announced a new age policy on Nov. 25 that prohibits attendees under 18 years of age from attending the 2020 Governour’s Ball music festival.
Under-age attendees can accompany adults, but each adult is required to bring a valid form of ID and can only bring two under-age attendees.
This new policy has upset many Staples students who attend the festival each year.
“I’m upset that the policy is changing because now me and my friends have to find an adult to go with us,” Jordan Goldshore ’23 said.
Governour’s Ball explained their new policy in a press release. They believe the most important thing is the quality of the festival experience.
Tom Russell and Jordan Wolowitz from The Founders Entertainment also added that the alternation for next year’s event is based on feedback from fans as well as conversations.
“We are always listening, always evolving, and always trying to give our fans and our City the best festival they could ask for.”
Many students are curious as to why this policy has changed.
“I think the decision was mostly made for legal reasons so they don’t have to be held responsible for the poor decision-making of adolescents,” Ian Kramer ’20 said.
This decision remains controversial among students.
“This is good for [Gov Ball] and bad for them [too],” Aayan Gul ’20 said, “because although they are trying to prevent kids from coming, getting messed up and destroying things like last year, they’re probably going to lose a lot of money.”
