The Turkey Trot: A Thanksgiving Tradition

Sunny skies on a beautiful Thanksgiving morning brought over 4,000 runners to the 34thannual Turkey Trot. Staples students and alumni joined the masses for this 5-mile race.

The run started at the library in Southport, went through Westport and back past the Southport beach to the finish at the Wakeman Boys and Girls club.

Some notable Staples finishes included cross country runners Henry Wynne ’13, who finished second overall, and Caroline Koenig ’14, who came in the top 20 women finishers.

“This was the longest race I ever ran and I thought it would be tough,” Wynne said. This was his first time running the Turkey Trot and he ran along with many alumni and fellow teammates.

Young children, teens, college students, and adults alike came together to celebrate Thanksgiving. Whether running, walking, cheering, or handing out water, everyone made the event special for the participants.
