Hunting for the best Spotify tracks: Spotify connoisseur offers tips and tricks

Did your boyfriend just break up with you? Did you fail a test? Are you sad? Are you ready for the weekend?

Yep, there’s a song for that.

As a teenager I’ve had many highs and lows and I can attribute them all to a particular Spotify song.

When you find that perfect Spotify song or playlist, everything seems to fall right into place.

Here is my all inclusive guide to the best Spotify songs and playlists perfectly tailored to fit different moods.

  1. #RelationshipProblems

If I am down in the dumps my gut reaction is to play the entirety of Coldplay’s X&Y, but sometimes you have to think outside of the box, so I listen to “i hate u, i love u” by Gnash. Not only is it relatable for any situation as everyone can relate to “feeling used” or “missing” someone, but the song hits the perfect note between sad and reflective.

2) #Party

If I want to get hyped, “I Took A Pill In Ibiza” the SeeB Remix gets me in the mood with its fast paced beat and chill party vibe. The hunt for the perfect mix of chill and party songs is tough to come across, but the playlist “Teen Party,” captures my mood perfectly, featuring feel-good songs, such as “YOUTH” by Troye Sivan, “Once in a While” by Timeflies and “Stay” by Kygo.

3) #Chill

When I am settling down to  do homework or driving around in my car with the windows down I like to listen to calm alternative music like “The Judge” by Twenty One Pilots. Spotify’s “Indie Pop!” playlist is also a great find with relaxing songs such as “Genghis Khan” by Miike Snow, “Our Own House” by MisterWives and “Drive” by Oh Wonder.

4) #Throwback

When I’m feeling down and need a throwback tune to get me in a good mood, Spotify’s “Bring Back the 2000s” helps me get off my feet and loosen up. All-time favorites like “Hey Ya!” by OutKast, “Get The Party Started” by P!nk and “It Wasn’t Me” by Shaggy give me a good nostalgic feeling and help me unwind.
