Political commentator Tomi Lahren, was fired as a hostess on the conservative network, The Blaze after she called pro-life conservatives hypocrites. Lahren is known for her “Final Thoughts” segment where she goes on conservative rants, discussing topics such as the Black Lives Matter movement, feminism and abortion.

On March 17, Lahren received backlash after her appearance on “The View” on ABC. Despite her conservative reputation,  she confessed her pro-choice standpoint.

“I’m someone that’s for limited government, so I can’t sit here and be a hypocrite and say I’m for limited government but I think the government should decide what women do with their bodies,” Lahren said during the interview.

“I can sit here and say that, as a Republican and I can say, you know what, I’m for limited government, so stay out of my guns, and you can stay out of my body as well.”

As a result of her statement, Lahren received backlash from her coworkers and fan base, which both mostly consist of pro-life conservatives.

Some fans expressed their anger on Twitter. According to NBC, one wrote, “You lost all credibility with the pro choice comment.” Another fan elaborated, saying, “She claims to be conservative. She isn’t. Credibility gone.”

Glenn Beck, the network’s founder, spoke in response to Lahren’s suspension. “Speech is not free. It comes with another cost and usually to the other people at the other end of your argument,” Beck said. “The pen is mightier than the sword, and it can destroy people if your aim is clicks, views, and ratings.”

However, Lahren continues to stand by her comments said as a pro-choice conservative.  “I speak my truth. If you don’t like it, tough, I will always be honest and stand in my truth,” Lahren said. “I have moderate, conservative, and libertarian views. I’m human. I will never apologize, to anyone, for being an independent thinker.”

Although it is unknown whether Lahren will join an alternative network, her position at The Blaze is permanently over.
