The top grossing movie weekend in history has arrived. ‘Star Wars Episode VII’ has been everything I could ever dreamed of.
The moment I saw the first trailer, my inner Star Wars geekiness was awoken again as I was shaking in excitement.
The premise of the movie is the last Jedi, Luke Skywalker, has vanished and leaves a map of his location. After the fall of the Empire, a new group called the First Order, tries to take over the galaxy again and find the map before the resistance, the modern Republic, finds it.
JJ Abrams, the director of the movie, brought back many of the original characters, like Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, Princess Leia and Han Solo. Despite forty years passing, the original characters managed to keep their old personas.
Also, Abrams did not want to use too much computer generated imagery(CGI), so most of the explosions seen in the movie were real. This made the the realism in the movie far better than relying on CGI for special effects.
For the CGI that was in the movie, it was truly spectacular. The scene when the rebel X-Wing fighters fly over the lake was simply breath-taking. Compared to Episode I, II and III, the CGI was much cleaner and looked far more realistic.
Some who have seen the movie, compared Episode VII to Episode IV. Even though the plot structure is quite similar, and the places that are visited by the characters are very similar, Episode VII is unique and original in its own ways.
The best part was that JJ Abrams ended ‘The Force Awakens’ in full preparation of episode VIII.
