Amina Abdul-Kareem –– Staff Writer
“I’m not a very interesting person,” says Amina Fatima Farah Abdul-Kareem, who was born in Dubai, raised Somali, is a frequent visitor of Kenya, and already has her entire life planned.
Amina is also in serious need of the definition of interesting.
When Amina, a sophomore at Staples, isn’t babysitting or playing lacrosse, she’s dreaming of her next big trip. She absolutely loves travelling and plans on continuing this passion of hers for her entire life. One day, Amina hopes to raise her close, but not too big family in Fiji.
She also plans on working in human services. She’s seen heartbreaking examples of poverty in the places she’s gone and is determined to do something about it. In fact, she had even planned an inspiring trip to Somalia with her cousin where they would help teach children but the trip was cancelled because of obvious safety concerns. However, this has not discouraged Amina. She says she will try to plan another one of these trips and will not stop until she has changed someone’s life.
With admirations like these; yes Amina, you have a very “uninteresting” future ahead of you indeed…
