Grace Kosner –– Video Editor

Watching a movie with your friends is supposed to be a relaxing two hours to get your mind off of what is going on in the real world. However, for Grace Kosner ’14 this isn’t necessarily the case. It is more stressful than it is relaxing.

Kosner has a passion for film making – and it seems to run in the family. Her older brother Walter sparked her interest by introducing her to the world of video making when she was young, and has been learning since then. This is convenient, considering her position as Video Editor on Inklings clearly requires a lot of knowledge on the subject.

To further her experience, she spent several weeks bettering her techniques. This past summer, Kosner spent her time at a film school in New York City called Socapa. There, she spent her time directing and shooting long films. She controlled everything from the detailed plot to the way the actors said each line.

Her experience, as beneficial as it was for her own pieces of film, has caused a slight change in how she views other peoples’ work.

“I’m that person everyone hates,” Kosner says, “I’m very critical. I’ve left the theater before because I just get so frustrated.” Kosner says the corny acting is just something that she cant get past. She cant help but point out those little details.
