OK, Laura. Let’s dispense with the formalities. They call you “The Copy Queen.” What’s the deal with that? How many copies do you make a day, a week? How do you feel about all those trees sacrificed in the name of keeping Staples students informed?

I do all the Xeroxing for the whole school system. It’s a nickname I’ve kept for maybe 8-plus years. On average, I probably go through a case of paper a day. That’s 10 reams, 500 sheets per ream, so 5,000 pages. During midterms, I can go through 5 cases. I know Staples is trying to go paperless, but if that happens, I’ll be out of a job.

We know that there’s more to Laura than making millions of copies of Health Forms, exams, and such, so let’s get to it. We want to get inside and learn a little more about the person behind the copier. What makes you tick?

I’m an outgoing person, and I always find work to do. I love helping people. I help people all the time. I help out all the other secretaries. Part of the “Copy Queen” job is sorting mail and signing packages. I don’t just copy.

If you weren’t the Queen of Copies, what would your chosen profession or job be? Do you have a secret hobby or passion or something you love to do on the weekends?

My trademark is going to a lot of Staples games. Football, wrestling, lacrosse, basketball. Pretty much everything except hockey because the games are up in Milford. I’ve been painting my fingers blue and white (Staples colors) for about 10 years. When it comes to graduation, they’re painted solid blue with that year’s class painted over in white. If I could only go to one game, it would be hard to say. I just enjoy them all so much. I’m probably the No. 1 Superfan. Ask any basketball player how loud I get. I sit away from the parents and scream my heart out. I have cough drops in my pocket.

In high school, who were you? What were you into? Sports, theater, etc?

In high school I was very athletic. I played lacrosse, basketball and field hockey. I did softball, too, every once in awhile. Sports are in my blood.
