Teachers, administrators and NEASC evaluators gathered in the school library on Sunday Oct. 25 to kick off a week of evaluation for Staples. The opening ceremony consisted of videos and speeches given by students and faculty describing the Staples community. Additionally, the presentation sought to explain the Student Lens, which outlines the school’s 21st century academic and civic goals.

The NEASC opening festivities continued with a welcome reception later in the afternoon.

The NEASC opening festivities continued with a welcome reception later in the afternoon. Culinary students prepared and served an extensive array of foods for attendees, two orchestra quartets performed and student band Pizzadust added a touch of ambient background music to the event.

“We expect that we’re in good shape to do our job,” Joseph Damplo, chair of the NEASC visiting team said. “Staples high school isn’t going to do a bad job on anything,” he continued. Teachers, evaluators, and students alike seemed to thoroughly enjoy the reception and barely an hors d’oeuvre was left by the event’s finish.
