Northeast Children’s Theatre Company’s “Broadway in Connecticut”

Northeast Childrens Theatre Companys Broadway in Connecticut

On Saturday, October 19th, the Northeast Children’s Theatre Company held their Inaugural Gala, “Broadway in Connecticut.” The event took place at the Fairfield Theatre Company, the current home of NCTC.

The Northeast Children’s Theatre Company is a Westport-based professional theater company founded in 2010 by Tyler Paul and Morgan Weitz, and seeks to bring educational theatre experiences to disadvantaged children in communities like Bridgeport and Norwalk.

The night included a star-studded program featuring Broadway stars such as Leslie Kritzer (ELF, LEGALLY BLONDE) and many local performers including current Westport vocal coaches Susan Terry (Evita, A Little Night Music) and Cynthia Gibb, (Gypsy, Fame). Fairfield resident Frank Root (42nd Street, Mack and Mabel) performed a tap number with his daughter Abby. Staples graduates Jacob Heimer ’06, and Sally Eidman ’06 made appearances as well.

VIP guests enjoyed a reception with a beautiful array of food and drink generously provided by Garelick & Herbs and Palaia Vineyards Winery. Everyone had the opportunity to participate in a live auction for a variety of items, which included Jimmy Fallon tickets and an African safari.

“I loved the evening,” said audience member Maddy Rozynek ’14. “It had a wide variety of singers and even a tap number, which was a ton of fun! It was a great event for an even greater cause.”

Young thespians Zoe Samuels ’17 and Nick Rossi ’19 served as the masters of ceremonies for the evening.  “It was a really great experience to be an MC,” says Samuels. “It was so cool to be apart of something with all of those Broadway stars.”
