Inklings News

Gabrielle Feinsmith
One might say that Gabrielle Feinsmith `15 is Staples High School`s most charitable journalist. Her good-hearted disposition is what drove her to intern with Spare Change News, a homeless empowerment project, which also happens to be the nation's oldest street newspaper. While interning at Spare Change News, Feinsmith copy-edited, helped with layout, and even wrote some articles. Feinsmith decided to intern for Spare Change News “because [she] wanted to use the skills that [she has] learned at Staples and apply it to the common good.” When Feinsmith isn't out helping the less fortunate, she is busy writing award winning articles. Feinsmith`s article on Builders Beyond Borders, a popular community service trip taken by many Staples students, won a prestigious award from the New England Scholastic Press Association. Feinsmith describes her writing style as “unbiased” and “neutral.” She takes pride in the fact that she incorporates all points of view into her writing. Feinsmith moved to Westport from Boston in second grade, and she stays true to her New England roots by casually supporting most Boston sports franchises. Feinsmith, a former tennis player, is also involved in the Save the Children Club. After excelling in the Intro to Journalism class freshman year, it was natural for Feinsmith to join Inklings as a staff writer. As a junior Feinsmith was appointed Sports Editor, a position in which she excelled. This year, she is in the role of Associate Managing Editor, where her charitable ways and impressive writing are sure to improve the entire Inklings community.
