The Wreckers improved to 4-0 on the season with their recent win over Westhill (1-3). Staples dominated every aspect of the game, crushing the Vikings in front of their home crowd with a convincing score of 48-7.

Everyone pitched in to the victory with seven touchdowns coming from seven different players. The Wreckers’ overwhelming offense tallied 243 total yards of offense in the first half, while on defense, the Wreckers held the Vikings to -1 total yards in the same half.

In fact, Staples head coach Marce Petroccio had to hold back his potent offense in the second half. In Connecticut high school football, if a team wins by 50 or more, the coach is suspended for the next game. The Wreckers came close but were never in danger of reaching this mark. Coach P, being an experienced coach, was clearly on top of the situation. He was able to play every single player on the roster. A feat rarely accomplished in the average high school game.

The Wreckers hope to continue their stellar season thus far next Saturday. Staples will look to stay unbeaten when they play Brien McMahon at home.

I never knew the 50 point rule existed. Must be really hard for a coach and a team to avoid winning by too much. Maybe Inklings could find out when this rule was put in place and why the rule came about. Also great that Coach P was able to play everyone. Staples is onto a great season this year. Keep up the coverage.
