This year, highly anticipated movies are coming to theaters, from animated stories to superhero powerhouses. Fans are counting down the days until the films arrive. These movies are what I believe are the most highly anticipated movies of 2019.
“Captain Marvel” is the first female superhero to have her own movie in the Marvel franchise. The movie takes place in 1995 and stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, also known as Captain Marvel. Carol is a former U.S. Air Force pilot who joins an elite galactic force called Kree. Her DNA was fused with that of an alien Kree during an accident, giving her super strength and energy projection powers. The movie follows her journey to become one of Earth’s greatest protectors. It is directed by indie directors, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, and comes out on March 8. This movie seems perfect for people who enjoy superhero movies and feminists alike.
The next movie won’t be seen in theaters until June 21, but for parents and children, it’ll be a blast from the past. “Toy Story 4” is continuing the classic Disney Pixar series where it left off. Directed by Josh Cooley, Woody and his toy pals will return in this new movie. Details about the plot are few and far between, as the teaser trailer provides little information. However, we do know that a new character called Forky is being added and that the movie will take place with the toys living at Bonnie’s house. This movie will be great for children just being introduced to the series or older kids and grown ups who have watched the previous three many a time.
Another movie coming out this summer is “The Lion King”. The movie is directed by Jon Favreau, the director of the live-action movie “The Jungle Book”, and comes out on July 19. It stars Donald Glover as Simba, Beyonce as Nala and James Earl Jones will reprise his role as Mufasa. It also star actors such as Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, John Oliver as Zazu, Keegan-Michael Key as Kamari the hyena and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar. The movie will have the same plot as the 1994 version, and classic songs such as “Circle of Life” and “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” will be included in the movie. This movie was announced in 2016 and uses photorealistic CGI animation for the entire film. I think this film would be great for anyone who enjoyed the original “Lion King” film and wants to see a more realistic version of the movie.
The final movie is one that left people on the edge of their seats. “Avengers: Endgame” is the sequel to “Avengers: Infinity War”. The movie takes place directly after the end of Infinity War, which I won’t spoil for the readers. It will feature all your favorite Avengers like Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and many more. It will also feature newcomers such as the aforementioned Captain Marvel, as well as Ant-Man and the Wasp. It is directed by brothers Anthony and Joe Russo, who directed the last Avengers movie. The movie was shot back to back with Infinity War entirely using IMAX cameras, making it the first Hollywood feature film to do so.
Overall, movies are a great way to bond with others. These movies are ones that I believe will captivate audiences and make them feel as though they are part of the story. These films are ones that many people can’t wait to see in theaters. For right now, all we can do is wait for these fantastic looking movies to arrive.
