On an average Monday I would never expect a restaurant to be packed, but Spotted Horse was full of people. Located at 26 Church Ln, Spotted Horse offers American styled food ranging from lobster macaroni to a traditional styled burger.
As I looked over the menu, I saw that they had a variety of small plates. As an appetizer, I decided to order the calamari that comes with three dipping sauces: chili-lime aioli, sweet Thai chili sauce and marinara. These three sauces ranged in flavor from sweet to sour. For the main dish, I ordered an angus beef burger topped with an egg, avocado and American cheese.
The calamari arrived quickly, and prior to knowing what the sauces were, I asked the waiter, but the waiter was unable to answer my question. To me, the waiter’s unfamiliarity with the dishes was unprofessional. However, after trying the calamari, I noticed that it was cooked perfectly; it was crunchy, but not overcooked.
After finishing the calamari, there was a 10 minute digesting period before my main meal arrived. The burger was so large that it had to be cut in half. The avocado was neatly placed on top of the burger alongside a sunny side up egg. The cheese was melted perfectly on top of the burger, complementing the taste of the egg, avocado and beef. As I took a bite into the burger, the egg yolk splattered all over the rest of the burger, making the egg go over every corner of the burger. This burger was overall pretty delish.
Spotted Horse’s wait staff was really attentive as our food came out right as it was ready and were very well trained. However, there was that one occurance when the waiter did not know what my calamari dish contained. All of my food was really good, which urges me to come back to this restaurant yet another time. For ordering an appetizer and an entree, it costed a total of $31.90. Looking over my entire meal, I think that my experience at Spotted Horse earns an eight out of 10.
